Advanced photo sizing instructions
Photos added to this site need to be a specific size and file type. Follow these handy Photoshop instructions to adjust your images before uploading.

— Use Photoshop to "open" the image.
In the "Menu" go to "Image", "Mode" and select "RGB color". You may then tone the image. I recommend if you have a newer version of photoshop to use the Image, adjustments, auto color. If you have an older version use auto levels and auto contrast. If you are not happy with the results, you can always use the undo function located under edit in the menu. To save image to an approximant 3 column size: Under the menu item Image, go to image size. Click on the box that says resample image so it is NOT checked. Change the resolution to 170. (This is the minimum you will ever want to use for print. Go back to the box the box that says resample image so it IS checked. Change the width to 36 picas. Do not enlarge the image. If the original file size is smaller, use that size. Do not change the height. Under the menu go to filter, sharpen, unsharp mask. If you are familiar with using this, set it to your liking or you can use the following to start with. Amount 75. Radius 0.8, Threshold 6.
If you have a newer version of Photoshop, go to file in the menu, save to web. Click on the tab at the top of the window that says 2-up. Change settings to. Jpeg, medium, progressive checked, ICC profile unchecked quality 50. Blur 0 Matte none. Save file. Navigate to where you wish to save the file. Name file - Do not use special characters or spaces. Keep file name short. Format: images only Settings: default, slices: all slices. Hit save.
If you have an older version of Photoshop, under the menu go to file, save as. Navigate to where you wish to save the file. Name file - Do not use special characters or spaces. Keep file name short. Change format to JPEG. Uncheck everything else and save. A new box will open. Choose quality 5 medium Format options baseline standard.
